this is an antifacist edition of the united skin compilation ( there is an original one with "apolitical" oi bands ). first saw this compilation 2 years ago in Stuttgart when a friend stole it with no shame from a distro at Unity Means Power fest. it is released on several big european records like german Mad Butcher, and spanish Redstar77 records. bands are coming from all over the world like indonesia, canada, brazil, france, spain, italy, russia etc. with songs that try to sum up the spirit of unity, tolerance, class struggle and the search for a better society in the future. please don't try to look at this as an ideological, political compilation, more like as an critical towards our society compilation ( nevertheless some bands are very political ). enjoy.

Declaration & I Hope You Suffer - Split

allright. this is one of the finest hardcore splits you can get from Croat modern hardcore artists. I hope you suffer is a band from a cultural city Varaždin very near Zagreb. they were called before Destrukcija Stvarnosti, and are playing for several years now. also did a Euro tour in their best days. the band members have now a new project Life in Peril (contemporary moshcore, metalcore or something like that), but i hope they will do few more shows under IHYS. sound can be described as pissed of fast hardcore going to powerviolence, but still sincere hardcore as it should be. Declaration is a few year old band, but made a huge impact on Croat, Zagreb hardcore scene with their presence. they are very perspective as a band and still young. their sound is infulenced by oldschool hardcore bands like 7 seconds, minor threat throgh youth crew bands to modern hardcore bands like Verse, Trial or Champion. if you like hardcore, this split is as good as can get. and i hope you download

who would have thought, that to an "angry oi skinhead" something like this could get in a head. but the bands have real quality. i mean Arctic Flowers from portland. portland that's got to be somethnig with brain. yeah, and it is, you know for yourself that their punk scene and the bands are pretty impressive, i hope you do? so Arctic Flowers are bringing anarcho w\ post-punk w\ deathrock lyrics w\ female vocalist. i think that says something on a first ball. and the Spectres, the dark Vancouver british post-punk influenced. children of the Mob and Warsaw. depression is taking over with melancholic atmosphere. enjoy the split.

hello, again. i decided to make things easier. i will continue to post you cool punk bands for download from around the world but only with album reviews for now.

breaking the ice with a Caen, french screamo\post-hardcore band Aussitôt Mort. active since 2005 with several releases behind them. they tried to make some sort of emo doom music, but failed at the process. anyway this is not bad music, if you like slow melodic instrumental riffs with screaming vocals like on a medievil torture machine. for fans of Daitro, Amanda Woodward and other french "screams".

shit on a blogger who isn't active. anyway won't be active for reviewing for a while. yeah it was fun and all. Night Birds kicked ass like Direct Control ect. i was experementing with punk music when i came across this Boston band. Bloody Gears is a punk band with mild post-punk influence. the band clearly has influence of the Wipers, Hüsker Dü and the Articles of Faith. a new band with one Demo (5 song demo casette) and an 3 song EP ST. BG is one of thoose bands that just click and are very artistic in their music. their melancholic song won't leave any soul searching for an explanation, at least for 3 months when you get sick like you are...

So, Opcio k-95 is a catalan oi! band. Their name is taken by a Opcio Kalashnikov (Kalashnikov way) the gun which represents the antifascist fighters around the world. These guys are here from 1995 and they have 4 albums ("Cap Oportunitat" 1997, "Mai Morirem" 2000, "Terra Cremada" 2004 and "Reneix" 2010) behind them as well as 2 splits ( with Brigada Flores Magon and Brixton Cats), and not to mention compilations they appeared on. Their music is a mixture of i would say english oi roots with a catalan soul as well as their friends music. This is obvious in the first 2 albums, while the second 2 are more instrumentally mature. They have very strong antifascist believes, and are a part of the Redskin movement in Spain, also they consider themselves Catalan patriots and socialists. Their lyrics are inspired by daily fight against fascism, class struggle and ethnic independence. They never played in eastern europe and can't wait to see them live again. Unfortunately i don't have a split with Brixton Cats only on vinyl, but the songs are from the last album Reneix. Stay smart, stay rebel and enjoy.

RPG-7 is a spanish oicore band. A new band on their antifascist scene coming from Vallekas, a district near Madrid that is very proud of it's working class roots. They only have an EP for now called "... Un Paso de un Largo Camino" in 2010. Watch out for this band as their music is similar to Non Servium and Zartako combined.

Actually i got an excuse for not posting regularly. Having problems with my upload on MF, so i'll put links for download from the net, until i solve the problem. In the mean time I hope you all heard for this band. When about a year and a half ago their LP New Blood began circling a punk forum, back here all hell broke loose and everyone was hyped by this band. This is not a usual band. Night Fever combines very fast and oldschool infleunced hardcore with trashy but smart punch in the face lyrics and one very gifted vocalist with a vast vocal range. Actually this band is totally oldschool by their sound especially the first LP in 2009 mentioned before "New Blood". Now they are out with a brand new EP Transparent which is slightly more amplified with rock. They were actually in Croatia back in 2008. They had a break because one member was in prison (don't know which one so i want talk shit). But now i can see they are still kickin'. Enjoy and stay wasted.

I thought good about writing this review for the festival. I lost my first enthusiasm and sometimes i don't see a big point in doing all this. But for the love of music i will continue to do this through the near future.
Also have a lot of reposting to do. I now see that the "whole(crucial)" discography of the bands is a little tricky to keep up with for a lazy person like myself. Better if i tried to review the albums, but okay i'll live through it. So there you go: ROIR, Maraboots, Eve & the Evils with new albums updated.

Now the fest. Well the fest was big, i could compare it to Endless summer from last year summer fests. And i don't really like big fests or the open ones. Too many people draw out the intimate soul from the festival or concerts it just ends up being like a stadium, crowd show like that glam rock stuff in the 70's. That just isn't "punk" like small dark night crawler squats where there are 50 kids trashing it like it should be. Don't get me wrong, i didn't mean that the names like the ones on a fest don't deserve a big crowd, that would be hypocritical. But it sometimes chokes the bands real soul and the connection that is felt and could be enjoyed in a smaller fest, gig...especially if the crowd is lame. But on the other hand. This was a hardcore fest and the crowd was hyped and dragged some energy from the bands, that maybe wouldn't come up if it wasn't so big. And you always end up seeing less bands than you would want, because you can't see all of them without taking a break for a drink and to talk. The most positive thing on the fest was that it's fuckin' too cheap for bands like these. Anyway...

We went to Fluff from Zagreb with a van on thursday night. The usual drinkin' (except for the sxe ones, ofcourse), jokin', talkin' on the road and we came there early in the morning, that was unusually very cold and windy in central Czech R. After gettin settled we went to the small town centre to explore a little, find something to eat and to drink, and waste some time 'till the fest begins.
As i am still a new\fresh person with the love of the hardcore sound, i felt frustrated that i didn't knew more bands and explored them before i saw them live. And ofcourse because of the tight schedule you don't have a chance to see that much you would like if there were more time for chillin'. So the first day i missed out the 50 lions and All teeth.
So the first band was Touche Amore which made a very good impression on me with the energetic vocals. Broken records, Honest sleep and etc. they went with their songs which i ain't that familiar with their names so i won't guess.
After then we went to check the merch before returning really fast back for the Carrier. The Boston finest melodic though harsh hardcore band. Mostly was concentrated on the their vocal, which had a damn good (i mean powerfull) voice. Some have said it to be too macho for Fluff but i think that he wasn't and was decent enough in his live show, after all the band has song and an EP about love (can't seem to find that macho).
Then the main band and one of the most known on the Fest. La Dispute. Like a total opposition to the Carrier vocals, there stood the skinny and childish La Dispute vocal. I never gave them too much opportunities since i thought they aren't that hardcore of a band. I was pretty wrong and positively shocked. The little almost shy guy had more energy than most of the fests "hardcorers". They didn't play their most famous songs (good move) and gave a chance to more unkown songs to come up, some new ones and the TA split with the vocal of TA that came on stage to help.
After the show, more drinkin' and fooling around. Before we ran outta beer and had to call it a day. Something worth mentioning that this was a fest where i had least money for spending, only 30 euros, 10 per day and still managed to economise them so so. Only a shame because i didn't got a chance to spend some on merch. but there will be time, material stuff doesn't mean shit in the end.

The second day i missed out on Beyond Pink (which i heard were very good few days before Fluff in Zagreb), Trainwreck, Victims ( i only went in for one song and didn't like it that much) and Ensign ( i have a good enough excuse). Anyway after the usual morning coffee, shopping and getting ready. The first band that day were the Dangers. And they started at about 3PM which i couldn't get for a great band like this. Anyway i was infront so i saw the playlist and i liked what i saw. They started with We broke PA, the Power Chord Blues, Half brother, all cop, AIDS, Cancer, I'll Clap When I'm Impressed, Opposable, Stay-At-Home Mom and finished with We have more sense than lies and few more i can't remember they played. The vocal isn't sane in a good way. Animal while singin', jumping all around and into the crowd but still with moderate authority. Also a good and sincere talk between some songs. They really made a good impression and are one of the best bands i saw live. After them the screamish powerviolence band Battle of Wolf 359 which were fair enough but not my cup of tea.
Then there were the powerviolence Punch with a positivly good attitude that can be felt of the female fronted vocals while she was talking. Punch was one of those bands that i like the fast and harsh music and can listen to it, but there isn't any song that is jumping out of the monotomy. But still the played good enough to see them again and played almost 2 sets ass most of the songs are very short.
after them another female fronted band the German Glasses that were almost on home turf considering that the fest native language was german because of their invasion on border country Czech. They were the only band i watched in the tent or should i say outside the tent that was filled all the time. That's a minus beacuse a lot of people couldn't get inside, but nevertheless they were very good and have drawn a lot of energy outta their crowd.
That was that for the day, there was lot of drinkin' to keep up with. Something very funny made this fest unique. I drank an average of 10+ beer per day and ate one time a day and didn't get drunk. After all that moving around you can't get drunk until you settle down or take it on to the next level with good old vodka, that did the trick. Also, let's say that half of the bands on the fest were sxe, and let's say that there were less sxe lads than the ones gettin' completely wasted. Even the bands were on two sides, like the Victims (i think it was the Victims bt not sure) askin' are you all wasted, and the Ceremony trading their merch for marihuana.
After finishing the drinks and ourselves we were gettin' ready for the third and final day.

The usual morning and usual missing of the next bands Rosetta, Raein (also missed in Zagreb because i thought i would watch them here, moron.). As i am begining to be lazy to write more i'll speed up things. The next band was Ritual which i more watched more on gorund while drinkin' and laying on my back or ass (told you i was lazy). Then the Soul Control which weren't that much audience honored for a good band like that. The audince was limp in fact. The next band was Black Breath for which i thought that Motorhead is playing but without Lemmy. They were okay, but really don't like that much sludge and crossover (death) metal, or what that was.
Then the big guns went inside. When i saw the guys from Ceremony on stage i thought they broke outta a mental institution, not to mention the performacne and the Damned\Misfitsslashgoth outfit of the guitarist. Who are these guys. These are revolutionists in hardcore. Insane calm nihilistic lyrics and sets mixed with fastcore crazy shouting of the vocalist. They started in the head with Intro and Sick. The crowd exploded and almost everyone who was on the fest was on the band. Then the songs Moving Principle, Kersed, This is my war, Terminal Addiction, the cover of Red C Pressure's on and other hits. I don't know what to say more beacuse i was also hyped on them. I know, i'm lazy. Negative Approach is a influential oldschool hardcore band from Detroit, Midwest, USA. Ah, were to start. The band was formed in 1981 influenced by Detroit proto-punks the Stooges, the arrival of hardcore bands like the Necros and Black Flag mostly and the british punk and Oi! bands like the 4 Skins and Blitz. Their first gig was in a basement of the Necros drummer mother's house. They first mada an appearance on a compilation with Necros, Meatmen Process of Elimination compilation. After that they made their ST in 1982. Followed by a LP "Tied Down". That was all for NA before the band splited in 1983, there were some live recorded tracks and unreleased records issued on "Total Recall" and after the reunion "Friends Of No One" in 2010. After the split the vocal made a more garage rock band Laughing Hyenas, but in 2006 the band reunited to make some shows. Their harsh and raw style of playing live, pessimistic, nihilistic and real life in your face lyrics with an intimidated attitude on stage by the vocal Brannon made NA one of the most notable hardcore bands. Fuck it. I've been very busy lately so didn't had a chance to post something new. Here is a treat. This is a documentary video, taken i think in 2009 about the russian oi,ska, hardcore - antiracist and antifascist skinhead scene. There is a english translation, but it's pretty shitty. The documentary has interviews and clips from the gigs around Russia with various bands like Razor Bois, Battletoads, Old Style Values, Brigadir, What we feel, Mister X and others. It includes the SHARP, RASH and Trojan skins. Enjoy.

Love the Italians. One thing is for sure, you'll find a vast and developed Oi! scene there with regular gigs with local support + abroad. Trade Unions is one of Italian local oi! bands, that aren't that famous abroad, but they have their audience in north Italy. The band was found in Livorno in the year 2004. They made 2 albums over the years, "Aumenta la rabbia" in 2005 and a brand new one few months ago "Acciaio, Salmastro E Sudore". They are a RASH band that can be read out from their name. Dealing similar lyrics about the proletarian - working class. Still going strong in Italy. Check them out.

This is a post only for Croat and ex-yu public, and only for those interested in the skinhead subculture. I'm bringing you an article from a football supporters\hooligans\ultras (call it what you want) fanzine from Croatia. The fanzine was called "Tribine" and it was circling the 90's ultra scene in Croatia. Here is a article about the skinhead subculture "Skinheads - children of the working class". Yes, skinheads were mosty children of the working class frustrated with their class belonging, but they made out of a subculture a safe heaven dealing with life problems and issues every person tries to overcome in this modern struggle of society. There's more than it meets the eye about this subculture. The article starts with a prelude, the roots, the violence and football of the subculture. Then the differentiation and schism in the subculture, and finally with a short review of the movement in Croatia and their mixture with the ultra' Bad Blue Boys and Torcida.

Hour of the Wolf

I love finding new bands. The Hour of the Wolf is one of those bands that will shock your world once they get in your head. The band is formed sometime around 2005 in Arizona, USA. They aren't a typical hardcore band. As they say about themselves, the band is "Combining a sound that fits just as nicely next to the Misfits as it does Motorhead?" with a hardcore Black Flag biterness on top of all. They made 3 EP's "Power Of The Wolf" in 2006, "Waste Makes Waste" in 2007 and "Obsolete", also one Split with Lewd Acts and an LP in 2010 with Power of the Wolf tracks, few new and few covers under the name "Decompositions Vol. I". Watch out for them as they will turn you over with their mature riffs, sick lyrics and melodic sound. Enjoy.

Street Troopers

Fuck it, i have to much work to do, so i didn't get here to often, but still got plenty of bands to share. The Street Troopers came to my mind these days. They are an Oi! band from Montreal, Canada. Don't know musch about the band, because there isn't any information on the net and they don't have a page. It would be interesting to explore their relations with the Prowlers, as they fell apart about the time the Prowlers got together and they have the same themes and topics in songs, as well as the relation in Montreal, a fertile ground for Canadian Oi! bands like Jeunesse Apatride and the posted band Esclaves Salaries. Anyway they made a demo in 96' and made their only LP in 1997 "Take The Battle To The Street". Also a very rare EP in 98' "Montreal". They made a few appearances with best know that on Class Pride World Wide. Jeunesse Apatride covered their song "On the streets of Montreal" . They have strong antiracist views, singing songs about life and problems on the street, unity and fights against nazis. Ofcourse the north east part of North America is very developed about these things. They also have few ska element songs like Jamaican Police and Ska Train which are very very good considering them not to be a ska band. The band is heavily underrated. Enjoy.

Jeune Seigneur

One more french Oi! band from Brest region, Jeune Seigneur. The band was formed in 2005 from the ashes of a couple of bands. Made their only demo "Tonnerre de Brest" in 2008, playing shows in the Brest region, until they moved to Paris and continued their work there. Active members on the french oi! scene, supporting the antifascist struggle and anarchist politics. Fortunately i had a chance and saw the band live. Enjoy.

Night Birds are a punk band from Jersey, USA. They are a new band playing surf and early 80's hardcore influenced punk rock. Made a Demo in 2009, and in 2010 3 more records "Killer Waves" , "Midnight Movies" and an "ST". 14 songs for now with lyrics that are kinda reminding of 60's topic songs with a catchy melodic rhythms and brat suburban vocals. Mossin Nagant

Mossin Nagant is an Oi! band from Euskal Herria (Basque). They made their only album as far as i know in 2005 "Redskins sounds from Euskal Herria". Their sound is melodic Oi! made in Spain with a singalong sound. Songs deal class pride and similar redskin topics with an accent on Basque country (they covered one song on Nabat's melody to Laida Bologna, "Gora euskal herria!") . I doubt that the band is still playing, they aren't active on the net that's for sure. Too underrated. Enjoy.

The Rudeboysunity org. in Geneva, Swiss. made their 6th Antiracist\Antifascist fest after a big break from the last fest that was in 2005. They made a pretty good job to do their best after years of post. They brought the one of best bands there are on the antifascist scene in Europe with an emphasis on Oi!, Ska bands and other genres such as Punk ofcourse, Psychobilly, Hardcore and Hip-Hop.
Only 5 people from Croatia went to Switzerland. We embarked on a journey with a night on Wed Thurs long 15-16 hours due to loss of the Austrian Alps. After a thorough review on the border with Switzerland, we have come to the city at about 16h o'clock just in time to find a cheap store to buy beer, because most of the supermarkets were closed due to holidays in Switzerland. As soon as we arrived in front, the guys from the 86 crew, recognized us from Zagreb and has started talking and finding accommodation for sleeping. Massilia crew we're also there and found ourselves in a friendly environment, better than at home sometimes, because the community felt the air, especially when our friend from Switzerland originally from Croatia came infront. After talks on the scene, anti-fascism, lost times and similar topics were going to see the 8point6 crew and the club inside. 8°6 Crew were the first headliners who opened the fest. After their first song it was evident that this will not pass without remembering. Started the set with their old hit album and were slowly progressing to the new one, and were very faster than in Zagreb. The audience that was largely set by skinheads dancing on every dance rhythms of their songs. I was surprised, they have devoted again Jibbers song from the new album to Croats who have come to the fest, which was a nice gesture. When the dance finished their set and hell, that was not the end, they went again with a review of hits but in a slow\fast way of combining them with their master of the art instrumental solos. 8°6 Crew literally killed the set and the audience with their genius play.
After the gig we went outside to talk a little more with our friends from Europe before going to a well deserved bed. I luckly found a roof under me for sleepin as I talked my friend from Swiss to get me in with them in a student flat of their acquaintances.
The second day after meeting with the rest of my crew and eating something we went sightseeing the beutiful city of Geneva. The city lives are situated on a big lake that looks more like a sea than a lake. The resort, casinos and hotels with the promenade are the heartbeat of French speaking Geneva.
The second day we arrived at the fest a little later than the first so missed some bands, but nevermind, we found cheap beer and were looking forward to the hell from Madrid that was going to erupt. Also we got a lot of time chatting with people, so we got a place to sleep in a camp near Geneva situated in France, with Massilia Crew that fixed us the resort. Anyway the Offenders are staring so after lots of beer we went inside.
I don't like the new Offenders album, that's why i didn't expect much from them. They were more ska-punk and they lost their 2tone and roots so it was not that good, but anyway a good show with a criticism for not playing more than 3 songs from Hooligan Reggae album.
After we went outside to refresh and grab more beer. The german red bastards from motory city PDF were next. At the first song only few people were in the club but it soon got filled. They started with some old songs like Bonehead, Stuttgart bei Nacht, Boot Boys, Nutti,Nutti and went to Lazy Boy, Paradise, Mittelfinger, Ready For Love and finished with provocation ones like Golden Shower White Power, AFA-SFC. Now when i'm getting the film back in my head, they did a fuckin' great show. Only thing i'm sorry for is that we didn't made a word with them beacuse we know their good friends from Stuttgat, but there is time to se them again.

After the PDF we were on needles as Non Servium are preparing to play. We tried to grab the bend in Turin, but their show was cancelled so this was very luring. They started with a whole rehearsal of the song Tu Ira and the club exploded. After that they lined the songs Imperio Del Mal, Nuestra lucha, Todos al suelo, Ratas, Ratas de ciudad than some older Escucha el Oi!, NSA, Nosotros somos la venganza, Mata Hippies, Orgullo obrero, Lucha armada, Cabezas rapadas, Violencia, Bronca than again new Torpedos, Warriors and finishing their set with a bis El Espíritu Del Oi!, Antinazis when Carlos shouted ni apoliticos ni ambigous and Seguimos siendo was the end of the night. I didn't mention few of the songs they were playing as i don't know their name but they played for an hour and something for sure. The energy cannot be described. The vocal Carlos voice is something very angry with a decent stage performance, especially when they all sing along. The sight is very intimidating and realistic. They got a complete dominance on the stage.
After the gig, there was some fighting beetwen Massillia and the security but nothing special. We went with them to the camp later. They even gave us a tent as we didn't have any and our snoring beast was turned on. I really want to thank the Marseille crew. Their hospitality and friendship is one of the things i wont forget. I usually don't get impressed to easily but they are one hell of a organised group and ready to help at anytime. Massive respect and my bove. We have a lot to learn from them.
The second day, our guys went to see the famous CERN, but me and the driver were feed up with everything we just wanted to drink and get ready for the bands to come. We look at some merch and bought some vinyls to pass the time and again we came late for the bands that played first. The vocal from Enraged Minority our friend Daniel that we met in S. Gmund but we had a chance to talk with our mate. Still waiting for the Stage Bottles we had a chat ofcourse with the Croat from the band, talked a little about the band and their Balkan tour that we are looking forward to.
The Stage Bottles came on stage. And it was beautiful. I love the sax they have in the band, and the vocal Olaf did hid propaganda speech before the songs, nevermind, never enough of educating people. I was a bit drunk and under influence do i don't remember excactly all the songs but i'll sum up what i will remember. They already begun to classicaly with Mr. Punch then Power for Revenge from the new album, than they played Hope You Gonna Save Your Life, You'll Never Walk Alone, Sometimes Antisocial But Always Antifascist, Dead But Not Forgiven, Solidarity, Hooligan, All You Need Is Hate, Real Skinheads, Come Together, Too young too die, Solidarity and Russia. I think by the name of the songs, that you know it was a good Stage Bottles gig.
After them the big name. The forefathers of SHARP skinheads and antifascist Oi! the Oppressed. I'm sorry we didn't have a chat with Roddy, as he is a big inspiration to me and i think to all skinheads who know the big name he is. Later he texted a friend on the net, he was well suprised that people from Croatia traveled to the gig and told us why didn't we spoke a little. Anyway they opened the gig with some new songs Remember, Football Violence, then the old ones Run From you, Ultra Violence, Were The Oppressed, Work Together with Olag from the Bottles singing also, then Joe Hawkins, AFA Song, Sleeping With The Enemy, CF3, Boots For Stompin and Skinhead Times when i couldn't cover the feelings anymore and let myself loose. They ended with a cover from 69' to pay respect to the roots and jamaican music by covering the Monkey Man. Great gig. Great band.
We were all tired after 3 days of drinking, having no sleep and eating very little and fast food. But we still had Nabat to see. Well i never saw Nabat on pics, but i got suprised how old the blokes looked. But nevemind that, you could see the joy in the singer eye while he was singing. They played their hits like Nichilistaggio, Skin E Punk, Un Altro Giorno Di Gloria, Scenderemo Nelle Strade, Laida Bologna, Lunga vita ai ribelli oi, Asociale Oi! and Tempi nuovi. Don't know the rest of the songs. But they came on the bis again with 3 more songs. Nabat was a champion of singalong definitely in these 3 days.
After the gig we still had little time to chat with Daniel, the guys from Massillia Crew and my\our friend from Swiss Sara, before saying goodbye to them all and seeing them somewhere else. We went home after the gig. Our driver is a beast when it comes to driving, so while some of us were sleeping he drove for 15h just to get us all home and safe.
One more word about the festival. I usually say that the last festival was the best and will have a lot of memories, but this one was pretty special. One because of the location, Geneva is beautiful and it's the middle of Europe, so it's close to Italians, French, Spanish, Germans and other who came. Second is because of the bands, as i said this was the top of what Europe has to offer in the antifascist scene. And the third and the most important was the friends that we met again and some new ones we found. Without them the fest wouldn't be that special. I'm only sorry that not a lot of our friends from Croatia weren't there.Merci beaucoup Geneva et les amis. Thnx Sara for pickin' the pics.

Flawless Victory is a sxe hardore band from Moscow, Russia. The band started to play in 2007 positively youth crew hardcore. Packed with a huge amount of energy and sincere lyrics they made their first LP in 2008 "Young Hearts" and their final and only EP in 2010 "Freedom" and then splited (similar like Ray). They made songs on russian as well as english, with few covers like sxe revenge (Project X). Reading the Skinhead Bible and the bands mentioned here i got flashbacks of some old memories and the music I loved. As i was oppsessed with british Oi! i got a pretty good background of the "old" bands, the first one to describe the sound of the streets and the rebirth of the skinhead youth. Aggro, football and being raised on the streets is what Oi! was about. Anti-Establishment was one of those Oi! breed bands. They were formed in 1978 under the influence od The Damned, Pistols, the Ruts. Played about 20-25 gigs with bands like Infa Riot, Last Resort and were never interested in politics. Shame that the cult went down like that being associated with right wing politics. Anyway they faded away in the early 80's like some other Oi! bands did. The band made a cover of Animals The House of rising sun. I'm bringin' you their Oi! collection which sums up their discography. Enjoy pure Oi! as it was once upon a time.

Time to get back in the past, the punk past and my past when things were much simple and music was more sincere. I think don't need to introduce this band, their legacy is enough but let's make a short story about their music. The Menace are a punk\Oi! band straight out of London, England. They were formed in 1976 when 4 school friends decided to make their way in punk history. Their music was a refreshing punch in the face for punk, it was not a project for music industries like The Sex Pistols, or Clash big concerts, so they never were signed in a big label company. They were pure working class kids growing up, so the record compaines weren't interested in their music. The band splited in 1979 but they still made a huge impact on other punk bands. Playing Roxy's a, then they made a lot of singles in that period, and reformed again in 1997 and still playing bigger shows. They even made an album covering some of their old stuff and some new songs in 2001. but that's not near the old Menace. Anyway they are also know as one of the forefathers of Oi! music along with Cock Sparrer, Sham 69, Slaughter and the Dogs, as their concerts were a real mixture of skinheads and punks. Lyricly they are dealing with more punk than Oi! messages, against the society, rebellion and growing up. One more thing, they covered the classic Ruts song "Babylons Burning". One hundred men is a skinhead reggae band from northern UK. Formed in 1989. by ex members of Skin Deep. Don't know much about the band only that they faded away after 1993 and were more a live band than a studio recording one. They were one of the first revival skinhead reggae bands from the late 80's that dragged the sound from trojan reggae in the 60's ska sound. The band vocal later went to Babyshambles which covered the 100 Men song "I Wish". Too underrated and really a gem from those times, enjoy.

While i'm still in an Oi! mode. I'm bringin' you this time something exotic. The Ofisboyz are a Istanbul, Turkey Oi!\Streetcore band. The band was formed in 2003 and were one of the first skinhead bands in Turkey. Also one of the first turkish bands that toured outside their land. Made a split "Meet the boys" with their good friends Forbidden Kings. Made one demo, and only one LP "Bosphorus Pride" that came out remastered in 2009. The band lyrics are dealing antifascism, street justice and football passion (Besiktas fans).

The Redskins. Well this band for sure isn't a typical ska band. I tagged them that way beacause the best way to describe them is soul (soul music more specificly northern soul mixed with ska in Britain 60's skinhead youth and they have some similar elements) with rockabilly influence and punk rock, also with their skinhead image and music played known as Oi!. The band was formed in York, England in 1980 from the ashes of their former group No Swastikas. Their songs are catchy and very danceable with marxist and left wing politics lyrics. Their first began recording under the name The Redskins in 1982 with lots od singles and EP's that i have no intention to write them all down. So their first compilation LP record was in 1986 when they disbanded under the name "Neither Washington nor Moscow". After that the band as i said fell apart going their own separate ways, but they still made some reunion concert in 1988 Paris ( not full lineup) and in uk 1995 (which i will upload for you). In 2010 was issued the "Epilogue" from their CNT singles and No Swastikas songs. The Redskins also made some trubutes to the Clash and 16 Tons (the coal workers song) of a country singer Merle Travis. The band made a huge impact on the redskin movement, as they were probably (not sure if my sources are correct) the first band under that kind of provocative name in those years when the AFA wasn't big. Their lyrics also made a huge impact because it introduced the working class leftist\socialist ideals to the skinheads. The songs dealt revolution, anti-capitalism and the emancipation of the working class masses themes. Bands all over the world not only Oi! but rockabilly and punk made a Tribute album "Reds Strike The Blues" for all the legacy that the Redskins made.
And this is also my little tribute i could give to their name. Redskins will kick those fuckin' statues and yes It can be done you just gotta keep on keepin' on.

Los Foiros is an Oi! band from Aquitaine, France. They are and RASH band that started in the mid 00's. They have released only one LP "ST" in 2007, and they made an appearence on a french Class Pride compilation "Appel Aux Luttes" with other french antifacist bands like Redweiler, Tulamort, Jeune Seigneur and others. Don't know if the band is still active, haven't heard anything new from them in a while.

We started our trip in the morning, some of us still a little drunk and under the influence of the gig in Zagreb that was last night. The destination was Reggio Emilia. A small town in the northen central Italy, near Modena. The Opcio guys were in town with 3 more good italian Oi! bands ENCB, FFD and Trade Unions and we decided to pay them a visit.
The trip didn't last long. For about 6 hours of driving and we were there with no big complications of finding the town and the place. As we arrived there at about half past 6, there were some locals fixig the "squat" for the gig. After the beer and food shopping, there was something very different than the usual gigs. The Italians were so friendly that they immediately came to us and started conversations, so we felt a very positive atmosphere talking with them about their and our scene and chating about all kind of stuff that would come to our minds. Usually i would not talk about this, but waiting for the gig we could not notice the female part of the subculture that were a real pleasure for the eyes. Too bad we don't have skingirls that much in Croatia, but slowly we are growing also.
We got some zine, with a interview of Stage Bottles and Undertones, but unfortunetly it is in Italian. When we entered the yard of the "squat" we looked at some distribution. It was full of great records of EP's, LP's and shirts, but we didn't had much money to spent on it. Even found some of our eastern friends records (Red Union and the Bayonets). Eventually a friend got me an EP vinyl of Brixton Cats Opcio k-95 split as i was broke. After a lot of beers, we saw the Opcio singer Carlos and decided to push our luck. He was very friendly so we spent the rest of our evening drinking with him even though he didnn't drink (sxe). He is a history professor and wrote some books about the football supporters and ultras so we talked also a lot about football besides the Spanish bands and politics. While FFD was playing (don't like the band to much so didn't see the point in watching them), we talked to the guys uf they would come to Croatia. I think that we made a pretty good impression on them especially on the drummer and singer, so we could try to do what seemed impossible. Bringin' them to our country.
Some of us entered when Ennecibbi started to play. When i saw the inside of the club, the first thing I noticed was the stage. It was fairly big, and i didn't liked it because of the poor connection of the bands and the crowd. It have an opinion that a better atmosphere would be on a smaller stage, but ok, to much hardcore inflence these days. Ennecibbi played real good. It was a shame that there were few people in front, nothing like the Turin gig, but still they made a good show. ENCB are doing few more gigs and taking a bigger "break", as their bass player is going to jail, beacuse of a violent fight with the fascists.
The third band were Trade Unions, an Livorno red oi! band. They made a new album but it still isn't available on the net.But still i recognised the old songs and they were good on the stage. One thing i noticed, maybe it's a "crisis identity" deformation, but Italian oi music, especially the aggressive ones, are slighty taking some elements of hardcore. Because of the singer, he was jumping all the time. I also noticed this from the ENCB singer. Maybe it's some sort of saturation and trying to take some new elements to make the music more inovative or a fusion taking some elements, or my lousy judgement.
When Opcio came to the stage the eruption started. But again not a lot of people at the front, at least we could enjoy the band more from a close perspective. They started with the new album Reneix, playing at first mostly new songs, and then went on Terra Cremada. I prefer Mai Morirem but i won't bother because of the bands playlist. At the near end i went outside to take more beers and never returned as i have a blank gap in my memory. But my guys told me that i missed out the flare and the fire extinguisher that ended the concert. Besides their songs they played a few covers (don't know why, because they have enough of their own great songs to play) Banned from the pubs, White Riot...
After sleeping a few ours in the car, we closed a great evening in Reggio Emilia and went back home.
A really good show this was, not only because of the bands and music but because of the whole trip and conversations with the Italians and Opcio. Reggio Emilia and Opcio, thumbs up and see you soon.
(PS: i know that my english is lousy, almost lousy as the construction of these sentences i wrote day after the gig, but i have no intention of rewriting!)

Verse was a hardcore band from Providence, USA. The band started as a side project in 2002 with their first release an "Four Songs" EP, that was a prerecord for their first LP in 2005 "Rebuild". Rebuild is actually my favourite record from Verse, because of it's fast and direct songs. After "Rebuild" they recorded the second LP "From anger and rage" which was a definite breakthrough for them, as they did a lot of tours in Europe and US with bands like Have Heart, Down to nothing, Crime in Stereo... The band then signed to Bridge 9 and in 2008 did their final album (for most people their best) "Aggression". The band broke up in 2009, according to the story, when their bassist "broke edge", and they decided not to play anymore. Their last show was on May 21-23, 2009 in their hometown.

Miles Away are a hardcore band from Perth, Australia. Well the band started in 2002. They wanted to make an impact on the kids playing a new style of hardcore influenced by mid to late 90's positive hardcore like Floorpunch, Ten Yard Fight, In My Eyes etc and certainly oldschool hardcore (Descendents cover). And the band sure did! From the first show 2003 they put Australia on the hardcore map. Their first albums sounded more "light" (don't know what word i would use) and innocent, but it was definitely a punch in the face sincere hardcore. After the years passed by, the songs matured and their music. They showed that with their newest album which is a masterpiece in my opinion (usually i see bands that made excellent albums in their early career and then lost their touch, but this is one of those rare bands that have proven me wrong judging by the latest record, we'll see what the future holds). The records went like this: 2003 - "Armed With Hope" demo, 2004 "Make it Count" EP, in 2005 their "ST" LP, 2006 an EP "Brainwashed" and a LP "Consequences", then in 2007 "Rewind, Repeat..." and finally in 2010 an EP "Memory Embraced" before the LP "Endless Roads". The band did numerous gigs and tours arond Aussie and the rest of the world and confirmed their place in hardcore music. Can't wait till they do a show somewhere near Croatia, to see these guys live.

Wiens No.1 is an Austrian Oi! band from Wien(Vienna) ofcourse. Don't know exactly when the band started, but sometime round the year 2004 with 4 members, but the number went up to 5 of them eventually. First LP was in 2004 "Jetzt red ma tacheles", then "Punks And Skins And Rock N Roller" in 2005 and finally their new "Zuegellos" in 2009. The bands lyrics is dealing street life, football, friendship and havin' a laugh and the music as melodic oi!\streetpunk. They played alongside bands like 4 Promille, Gumbles, Bad Manners, Stomper 98 and others, but they deserve a better reputation on the euro oi! scene than the one they have know. Oh, yes! Negative FX is a oldschool hardcore band from Boston, USA. Formed in 1981, and made a huge impact on the sxe scene there, they are also known as the Boston Crew (friends that traveled along USA supporting the Boston bands) along with the bands SSD and DYS. Although they had only like five to six shows, they made their name on the scene very well known. They made an ST only in 1982, but didn't came out 'till 1984. Like the other Boston bands, they were known for violent gigs. After disbanding in 1983 the bands singer went on forming and singing in the band Last Rights, and after after that Slapshot.

Ceremony is a hardcore band from Rohnert Park (CA), USA. The band was originally formed under the name Violent World until the year 2005 when they "adopted" the name Ceremony. Esclaves Salaries is an Oi! band from Montreal, Canada. The band started in the year 2000. Their name when translated means "Wage slavery", which means that this is a pro-working class left wing band with lyrics supporting the antifascist ideals in the society, skinhead subculture and working class problems. The band made 3 recorded materials. First their Demo\ST, than an EP in 2003 "Dur A Battre" covering "Johnny too bad" (an old skinhead reggae song by the Slickers) and finally an LP "Ca augure mal" in 2007, before their broke up in 2009. Their music is on french, influenced by french Oi! bands like Trotskids, Komintern Sect and others, and supported by the roots of the subculture in spirit of 69' and rock music. The band shared the stage with some famous contemporary Oi! artists like Jeunesse Apatride, Union Made, La Gachette, Brigada Flores Magon etc. They also made an appearance on the Class Pride World Wide and United Skins (the /// version) compilation. United Struggle is a young antifascist Oi! band from Düsseldorf, Germany. I got this band just a day ago, and i liked their music from the first song i heard. They seem to combine the true spirit and style of oldschool Oi! bands with a class pride mentality. Catchy and harsh tunes with smart lyrics is what this band is about. But lazy as ever, here's their bio from myspace. One more thing, they released an EP "The Reds are rockin'" in 2010.

"After all the years in the scene we are all bored by these new generation of Oi! bands: On one side just reactionary, conservative and stupid lyrics. On the other hand a lot of terrible metal or hardcore sounds. Boring and idiotic. The normal shows are mostly full of apolitical idiots which tolerate all kinds of scum there. The people just have to be stylish and oldschool (whatever that means-we prefer to be drunk in dirty C&A underwear and to debate about gandhi. Newscholl of skinhead culture). In Rhinish language you would say:" Jestern RAC und heute Ska, hach wat is dat Leeve wunderbar". It was time to do something for ourselfs to feel better. Deer in the Headlights is a hardcore punk, screamo band from Banja Luka, B&H (ex-yugoslavia). The band was formed in 2010 and they have a 5 track Demo for now, released this year. Fronted by a female vocalist with a strong voice, this band will enter your mind very rapidly (at least they did to me).What else to say, than give them a chance, i think that they have a very perspective future. 5MDR or Cinque Minuti Di Rivolta is an Oi! band from Savona, Italy. 5MDR is band that was born from the ashes of a punk project started in 2005. The band didn't began seriously until the year 2008 when they did a few shows under the name of 5MDR. Shortly after they released their Demo "Stato Di Allerta" and began doing shows with notable and less notable italian Oi! bands like Los Fastidios, Klasse Kriminale, Roll Call, Cervelli Stanki, S-Contro and others. In 2010 they released their LP "Via di Qua" featuring some songs from the demo and a cover of Nabat's "Nichilistaggio". The band is dealing with rebellious, street life, working class, fooball and other Oi! topics. Also, do i have to say that they are antifascist? Ofcourse, they are. Really a great band, extremely underrated, but they are getting more and more attention. Enjoy the Savona boys.

The First Step

The First Step are a sxe hardcore band from North Carolina, USA. I'm kinda lazy to write about them and i think that these guys could describe themselves better than can I, so hear is their story:
"The First Step started in early 2001 with two simple goals in mind: to invigorate their local North Carolina scene and to write fast, thrashy hardcore that was lyrically honest and open. While the last 4 years have taken them all over the North America and Europe the goals still remain the same. During this time The First Step has released two EP’s: a S/T 7inch and the Open Hearts and Clear Minds 7 inch and an LP entitled What We Know on Rivalry Records. As time goes by TFS has only become stronger and more focused on their ideals as a band and the music they love playing." Disbanded in 2008 with their last show. Influenced by oldschool (DYS, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds...) and youth crew (GB, Youth of Today, Insted...) american hardcore bands. For lovers of the youth crew, huge recommendation and enjoy.

Dead Stop

Dead Stop is a hardcore band from Belgium. The band started in 2002 bringing their oldschool sound havoc around the shows in Europe and USA. They were influenced by the oldschool hardcore bands like Negative Approach (maybe they took their name by their song, but don't know for sure), Minor Threat, Antidote. After the Demo, they released a ST in 2002, followed by their two LP's in 2004 "Done with you" and 2005 "Live for nothing". They did their last show in 2006 in Belgium and fell apart. Their sound is reminding me of 86 Mentality with more energy and just sincere and pure aggression with fast and furious riffs, just the way i like it. So give these guys a chance and enjoy.

Crux is an Oi! band from England. Formed back in the 1978, but didn't began serious work until the 80's and their EP "Keep on Running". They also appeared on the compilation "Oi Oi That's Yer Lot". Their songs were dealing the working class, sick and tired of listening to "disco shit", wanted to bring all their fury and passion of the streets to the frustrated working class youth of the British 80's. I'm bringin' you their collection of songs made after the band splited. The band actually did a few shows in the late 00's, don't know if their back for serious, we'll see. Enjoy this classic band.

ROIR is a neocrust screamo hardcore band from Novi Sad, Serbia. I will let them do a small intro: "It all started at the end of 2004 in Novi Sad. The goal was to run away from the every day worn out things and times in which we had entered. Ivan (guitar, vocal), Petar (guitar) and Aleksandar (drums) are in the band from the very beginning. Later on, Dusko gets lead vocal part and Nikola (Ground Zero) joined on bass line. Songs are about experiencing the present days, loosing close people, personal feelings, jealousness, envy, vain..". They are inspired by bands like Tragedy, His Hero Is Gone, From Ashes Rise, Ictus, Ekkaia, Catharsis etc. Unfortunetly the band has only one album "Last Flood" in 2009, but i heard that an EP is on the way, and will soon be released. I'm usually not into this kind of music, but this is definetly worth listening, it's been poisoning my ears for the last week, and not only that, the band is coming to Zagreb in 2 weeks from now. Viande Rouge or "Red Meat" is a RASH Oi! band from France. Don't know much about the band, beacuse there is very little on the internet or on their website (which hasn't been updated for a while). The band was formed in the late 00's. They released one 5 track demo, and a few days ago I found their studio rehearsal sample with 10 songs, so maybe the band is coming with new stuff in the close future. They have some image like a terrorist group (don't ask me why, maybe extreme antifascism?), but hey, they at least play good oi music, ofcourse they're French. One more interesting thing to say is that they have a saxophone and 2 vocals. Enjoy.

Azione Diretta is an Oi! band from Perugia, Italy. They are a young band on the Italian Oi! scene. Their name is inspired by the anarchist slogan\political view of "Direct Action", so they are an antifascist band. Zartako. What to say about a band like this one? Well they were formed in 2002. in Bilbao. Bilbao? Yep, they are one of those bands in Spain, that are proud of their Basque roots. So they are Euskal Herria\Basque rather than Spanish. Their sound? Well, this is a though and easy question at the same time. These guys are playing a fusion of NYHC (influenced by Blood for Blood, Madball, Warzone) and furious brutal Oi!, just like the ones that are made in Spain. Their political view is militant antifascism, these are not some schoolboys or internet blabbermouths. I got a chance to hear them live in Paris on the Baricatta festial. The rage they express in their songs, is beyond realistic, energy is bursting through your skin, feelin' like your gonna explode. Discography? Their first album was in 2005 "Ohorea Eta Harrotasuna", after that their "famous" "Sangre por Sangre" in 2009, finally a live album in 2010 "Primero Nostros" and one song that is waiting for a new album "Valetudo". Their songs are mostly dealing with antifascist lyrics (oppression, hatred, class struggle). Their whole album (and the song) "Sangre por sangre" is dedicated to all the victims of fascism especially to Carlos Palomino, a stabbed young teenager that died in Madrid from the hands of a fascist. Enjoy the brutality of Zartako.

The Burial

The Burial were an Oi! band from Yorkshire, England. Their sound was a mixture of Oi! incorporated with ska, northern soul and folk music. They were one of the first skinhead bands playing ska music, formed in 1981, in the skinhead revival years with the birth of the punk movement. They wanted to express the true nature of skinheads the apolitical one, strongly supported by their working class roots. Although they were apolitical by their music, their personal feelings were always with the working class, always supporting the Unions, Strikes and revloutionary socialist groups like Red Action in Britain. I would like to express their words with few quotations rather than blabing.

"I come from an iron ore mining village near Middlesbrough and a strong trade union background. A lot of my family were original skins and to us Skinhead was a working class movement and fascism is totally opposed to that. The strong grounding in working class politics has given Northern Skins an abhorrence of the National Front that London skins never had."

Their first sound was more light with major ska influences, while after the years passed by, they were sounding more streetlike Oi!. They released only one album done in 1988, "A Day on the Town" and appeard on various compilations like Oi! the Demos, The Sound of Oi!, Oi! the Sex and Oi! Glorious Oi!. They also assisted the anarchist rant-poet Nick Toczek on various projects under the name Britanarchists. The band splited in 1988. The Burial were one of those groups that showed and kept the true core\spirit of skinhead (sub)culture alive. The skinhead movement has nothing to do with fascism.

86 Mentality

86 Mentality is a Washington DC hardcore band. Formed in the 00's under the influence of US hardcore bands of the 80's like SOA (they covered their song Gonna hafta fight), NA, Last Rights, Youth Brigade, Iron Cross and Oi! bands like the 4 Skins, Blitz (also covering their songs) etc.. Their sound is a mixture of the earlier mentioned influences with an angry, fast and raw sound. Lyricly the band is dealing with mostly street life topics. One extra song i would mention is "Blood Red Violence" written for all who fight against fascism on the scene. Their first release was an ST in 2004, then two more LP's "Goin' Nowhere Fast" in 2005, and "Final Exit" in 2008. Unfortunetly the band disbanded and had their last show in 2008. A shame, one of my favourite bands, because of the unique mixture of Oi! style with Hardcore furious sound.

Void was a DC based band from the suburbs of Columbia, Maryland which was close to Washington so they got labeled in circle of DC emerged oldscholl 80's hardcore bands. They were formed in 1979. and their first released appearance was on a Dischord compilation "Flex your head" with three songs, after that they recorded split in 1982 with Faith (also a DC hardcore band). Following then their "Potion For Bad Dreams" in 1983 which has a more metal sound and was actually unrealesead because it was denied by the guitarist Dupree (don't know excatly why?). After the band split up beacuse of the very violent crowd that was following them on their shows and the bad reputation they splited in the fall of 1983. In 1992 their early demotape "Condensed Flesh" was released. Along the violence on the shows the band was also very well known for their specific sound merging hardcore punk with heavy metal reefs created due to their guitarist and along with the chaotic voice and performance of the singer the band made mayhem everywhere they played. If you like oldschool hc then this is a jackpot. Enjoy.

Curiosity? a powerfull tool. When i began listening to punk i never really had much interests in hardcore music. Maybe because i couldn't relate to it? but the truth is i never really new what it was (like). I was always open minded to music, always tried to not judge some style beacuse it is an way of expression and every style has it's own artistic values so it should be listened that way not in an musicallycentred direction. Not just talkin' about punk styles, the blues, jazz, folk\country, rock (r)evolution, reggae, electronic, hip hop. etc. every with it's own values, rituals, the culture it cherishes, creativity, diversities and crossovers it creates and a way of life which promotes in between the dominant\popular culture. So i began to be interested and listening to hardcore more and more. Well it punched me right from the start, i liked it agressiveness and honesty, it was also faster which was another +, because i was getting bored from the slow music. "Turnover"? At one point that now seems like a distant past i was completly focused with it, it ran me over, but i never really liked the overnight tranfromations, everything doesn't happen overnight it takes time before you can decide is this just a current fab or something you will be commited to with all honesty through years to come. So i took it slowly and we will se what the future holds.

It was a cold and snowy wednesday day in Zagreb, on the day we took a van and were heading to Vienna (Austria) for a hardcore gig. At the start we had problems with the rented wehicle as the front light didn't work (Dubrava), so we had to fix it, because of the problems we could have get on the border. This is the second time being very sobber in Vienna, as i didn't have much money, but the guys were more than solidary so i had a few beers on the way there and at the concert. I was excited because i didn't know what to expect, i never was on a show like this, Croatian hardcore gigs can't be a comparison, especially not without a band like this one on stage that is going to play tonight. It was a different world to me, so i had to adapt. We started our trip very late, so we got there just in time for the first band to play.

The first band was Austrian Charly Bone, i played them one time on my stereo just to hear them out, but they didn't make a very good impression on me. Similar was on stage, we were 20 minutes on the band, but nothing special. I don't like to miss out bands especially if i travel somewhere, than i would prefer to hear them out even though i ain't that keen on the band. This was a different situation as we spent the minutes waiting for the main band chatting or in my case passive chatting. Also on the second band the Australian metalcore\hardcore Carpathian. I knew the band but i never really "chewed" them out as only a few songs got to my ears while listening to them at home.
And after them, the main band came on the stage, the band most of us came just to hear. The Massachusetts Defeater which i don't think needs to be introduced. "Waiting to explode when the song is played", on my disappointment the vocal was the only person on the stage with an acoustic guitar with the lovely song from the new album "I'don't mind". I ain't such a big fan of an acoustic guitar in punk\hardcore music so this wasn't my cup of tea, but i decided to melt with the crowd and played along my part in the expressionist crowd. But certainly this was a good intro, as the whole band came to the stage i didn't thought the song after this will be an explosion on the start, as they played their famous "The Red, White and Blues" which i tought would be at the end, but certainly a good shock. The crowd was erupting. Then after "Dear Father" , "Blessed Burden" with stage dives which some ended with their heads on floor. As i can recall the next one was one of my favourite "The bite and sting", so they wasted my favourite on the start. But nevertheless there was still good songs to be played. They played their new song "Empty Glass", then "Home Ain't Never Home", "A Wound and Scar" and i think "Singin' New York Town" from the Lost Ground EP. I think i left some or one song from the Travels album, but the last was "Cowardice", until they came on the bis, and played "Prophet In Plain Clothes" and thanked the Verse for this (don't know exactly the connection), with the acoustic on the end and singin'-a-long. That was the show from the "Humble guys from Boston, Massachusetts".

After the concert the guys grabbed a few beers (well it was only midnight when the concert finished), which was a normal thing to do, only not to our sxe who wanted desperately to go home (couldn't blame him). I was dying of a wish just to join them, but because the lack of money i decided to drive home not to bother them with driving, because i was very familiar to the situation when you want to loosen up after the concert and i played my role but still got one beer for the effort. Luckly i drove home with not much problems with the tiredness, and arrived in Zagreb at about 6am, waiting to go to sleep after a exhausting evening and night.

SurVet Skins is a side project (if we can call it that way) of the Paris traditional ska band 8°6 Crew. Don't know exactly when they were formed or began playing, only that they made a ST in the year 2010, so we can consider this band a new one on the french oi! scene. This was a natural thing to split the bands ambitions as 8°6 Crew had tendencies to play oi! music in their older songs like Emeute, Working class hero and their new songs were more focused on the skinhead reggae style, so this got them a chance to express and specialise their music in 2 directions through 2 bands. They are playing oi! - skinhead rock 'n' roll, strictly antiracist and proud with 2 vocals (Charly from 8°6 Crew and Beck roadie and a good friend of the band). Still under the inflence of the roots, so they made a cover of the rocksteady\reggea group The Tennors, "Ride the donkey" in an oi! version of the song. Sorry i'm still under the impression of the bands show, fuckin' great band and greater people.

Boisterous is an Oi! band from England, Newcastle. I don't wanna clasify oi! music into stages, but this is definetly a band from the emerged second wave of oi! bands formed in the 1990., if we can take the beginnings\first wave the late 70's, early and mid 80's and the second with bands like Boisterous, Argy Bargy, Crashed Out, Pressure 28, Another Man's Poison. as the second wave the late 80's, early and mid 90's when street music and the punk image was slowly fading away from the media and popular culture and heading back to the real street life kids. They made their first demo "Boots Bairns" in 1992, came out on several compilations, did a EP "Harry Was A Hooli" in 1993 and finally a LP released in 1995 "Skip Raiders" (with the EP songs inside). Their music was about havin' a laugh, Oi!, birds 'n' beer, football and ofcouse the working class and street life situations and problems. As fas as i know the band isn't active anymore. Enjoy.

Lazy Bastards are a punk, rock'n'roll and Oi! (as they would say) band from Germany. They were formed in 2007, but they issued only one record, an EP finished in 2010 under the name "Together till the end" . You could say that the band started playing in 2009 when they did a tour and lot of shows over Europe, and have shared the stage with bands like Discipline, Toxpack, KrawallBruder and Stomper 98. Their music is melodic and energetic with streetpunk lyrics. The band is on an ascending line from the last year on, so be sure to hear them out.

After our trip to Massilia Antifascist fest failed, we decided to go to Wiena for a consolation prize (if you can call this gig that way). Although Wiena is close to Zagreb, and there are dozens of concert there over the year, this was my first visit to the Arena in Wiena. Certainly not the last, especially as we saw an interesting gig that will be in May (Last Resort, HardxTimes and Krawallbrüder).
Anyway we started our trip from Dubrava, with "only" 8 people inside the van that looked like a minibus, as we couldn't fill the van. Nevertheless the atmosphere in the van was boiling, as we started to drink lots of beer in the start, so the trip didn't seem to last 5 hours, which we had to cross to come to Wiena. When we got there, we were a little bit lost searching for the Arena, but we got there eventually. In front of the club there was a big surprise waitning for us, as the concert was sold out, and the guy in the front said that it was full and we can't come in. But then we used the psychology and persuading tests on him, constantly saying "but you don't understand, we came from Croatia", and were a little big drunk using this method. The guy finally showed mercy and let us in to buy the tickets. The bastard lied to us, it wasn't that full (at least not for Croatian gig standards). When we got in, we checked a little bit of merchandise, got some poseur photos with Phil from the Templars\Stomper 98, and spent money on expensive beers in the club.

We came just in time when the band Lazy Bastards began to play. I have to admit i haven't listened to them before, but when i heard they are going to be here i checked them out. A typical streetpunk band, nothing special, until i watched them play (couldn't recognise them at first, beacuse they seem to have got a street image, against the punk that i saw on youtube, maybe because of the concert) they made a good impression on me. With their songs like 3.HA, Sad Story, Working Class Rock n Roll and Glasses in the Air they made a pretty good show.
The second band Wiens No.1 remineded me of Bull Brigade at home turfs. The crowd (locals) went wild on every their song, singing with the vocalist and trashing the place with pogo dancing and climbing stage. They played their songs like Fussball Lied, Wiens No. 1, Kids der Strasse, Allez, Punks and skins and rock n roller and some from the new album Hooligans in uniform, Gepflegt und arrogant. Didn't know this until the singer of Oi! Front told me, that the guitarist of the band is a Croat and sympathises Dinamo Zagreb. Eventually i had my own show after their every song shouting Dinamo like a maniac (drunk things). I bought their new LP vinyl Zügellos, from the lovely polish girl on their merch. so i am looking forward in listening more from them.

After them the main band came on stage. No need to introduce this amazing band. I saw them once on Endless Summer but i'm not a big fan of huge concerts or festivals, so this was a great chance to hear and expirience them better when the atmosphere on the concert is more private and certainly better for enjoying the band. They are really kings without a crown from what i heard that night. They have a special aura while playing, and especially the saxophone which emphasises the bands greatness even more. They played for almost an hour only hit songs like Für die Ewigkeit, In der Stadt, Jugendzeit, Vereint und Stark, Identitaet, Geweint und gelacht, Alle haben bier gern, Du bist wie wir etc.. Also played their cover of 4 Skins Chaos, when i thought that the crowd would go more wild, but it was fairly good i can't say. For the end they finished with the songs like A way of life and Jetzt Erst Recht. They made a damn good show even though this was one of my soberest gigs, and the trip was worth it after listening to them. After the gig there was some fun, when some local skins got in a fist match outside. When it finished we didn't stay a lot as we were dead hungry, so we searched for some food before going home.
We got in Zagreb at about 8am and went our own ways. All i can say after this, that it was a good spent Saturday and looking forward to new gigs.

This is a new band, making DIY music with first release in 2008 "Demotape", second is a ST in 2009 and a split in 2010 with Alarmstufe Gerd (also trashcore from Germany). Nihil Baxter made a interesting cover song of Cro-Mags, Hard Times. If you like fast trash hardcore definitely check them out.

Judge is a NY Hardcore sxe band. Formed in 1987 by the guitarist and former drummer of the band Youth of Today. Under their influence of youth crew and sxe, they wanted to form a militant type sxe band, also lyricly. Their first release was an 1988 EP "New York Crew" on the label Schism ( Porcelly's label - guitarist), with 5 raging songs and a cover of a classic oi song Blitz, The Warriors. After that they released 2 LP's in 1989 "Chung King Can Suck It" and "Bringin It Down" (featuring songs from the first EP). Their final release was an EP in 1990 "There Will Be Quiet, After the Storm" with a cover of a Led Zeppelin song. They fell apart in the year 1991 but their music made a huge impact for the 90's sxe and hardcore bands.

Young Soul Rebel is a french Hardcore band. They are a new band, with only one release in 2010 "Black clouds and no tears". Their first sound was more oi influenced and as the years past the members got a hardcore sound for the band. They are not a sxe band because of the drummer, and one more interesting thing is that they have an antifascist stance (not that common for Hardcore bands). They did a pretty good cover od Warzone's In the Mirror. Definitely check this band out.

Nabat is an classic Italian Oi! band coming from laida\ugly Bologna. They are one of the first oi! bands on the Italian ground formed in 1979., that made a huge impact. The same year Nabat played their first gig in an anarchist centre (don't know if their name was taken from the Ukraine's anarchist organisation Nabat) with other punk groups freshly formed in Bologna. They first released a demo in 1981, a split tape with Ripp Off (also Bologna Oi!), after that their famous EP "Scenderemo Nelle Strade" the same year. In 1983 their second EP was out "Laida Bologna". In the upcoming years the problem in England and Europe spread wide with the fascist picture of skinhead subculture began, so there was tension and bigger gaps between the punk and skins so Nabat did some shows and projects spreading the "unity". In 1985 their released their first LP "Un altro giorno di gloria" dedicated to Nelson Mandela and few more racist fighters. After that the band wasn't that active, released their final LP in 1996 "Nati per niente". Their guitarist published a book "Skinhead - lo stile della strada" about the skinhead movement history and particular reference to the Italian skinheads. The vocalist made a project band Steno & Laida Bologna Crew, but did only several shows under that name. The band is still playing, did a show on the Croatian fest Monteparadiso 2009 in Pula, but i didn't caught them, but there is still time, enjoy.

The Press is a SHARP Oi! band coming from New York, USA. The Press were formed in 1984 and are actually one of the first Oi! bands that came from America, certainly the first Oi! band in NYC, as hardcore was raging on the streets of NY at that time. The band recorded some songs but have had difficulties to make a reputation for themselves as they had a softer sound than the British Oi! bands, even Roddy Moreno refused to release them on Oi! Records as he thought they were a Mod band. The band was a big participant in the SHARP movement (did the first benefit SHARP concert) in the late 80's, and were followed by a crowd of antifacist skinheads. These years and the early 90's were the peak of the band, as they fell apart in 1994. Their only released record was a split with the Radicts, but Insurgence records later released their discography. Although the band consider themselves apolitical, except for the singer Andre Schlesinger who had sympathies for the Britsh Socialist\Workers Party, and was a huge fan of the Redskins (band). Their lyrics are dealing every day life situations, working man problems and left wing views like the most notable song "Revolution now". The band was also an inspiration for the birth of the RASH movement in North USA and Canada.

HardxTimes is also a tricky band to put somewhere. The band is from Paris, France, and they are playing oi! mixed with a heavy hardcore sound. To make a long story short here's what they say: "Created with the love of Oi! in the early days of 2003 due to the lack of true streetpunk band in Paris, a few friends dedicated to the Skinhead scene with multiple but converging love in Oi! & Hardcore, decided to create a non compromising band which will regroup respect of the traditional Skinhead spirit of 69' cult and hard tough contemporary rough sounds close to bands like Warzone and Hardcore in general.". The band relesead a few albums and EP's. The first LP was "We Take Shit From No One" in 2007, then an EP "Demain nous appartient" in 2008, and finally a LP in 2010 "Life is a Battlefield", with some singles, and split releases (Mouthguard from Australia), but these albums cover pretty much all their songs. They also did some good cover songs of Warzone's Skinhead Youth and the Oppressed's Ultra Violence. The band did gigs with Oi and Hardcore bands like the Templars, Last resort, The First Step, Champion, Comeback Kid etc. The members of the band are in the SHARP Paris crew, they have strong antiracist views, and the lyrics are dealing with streetlife problems. Although the new album is more soft (less hardcore) than the first LP, still i think you will enjoy this unique combination.

Dandy Livingstone

Here is a treat for all you trojan 69'ers. Dandy Livingstone is a a skinhead reggae musician originally from Jamaica but came to UK (like the majority of early reggae, ska, rocksteady musicians) at the age of 15 and grew up there. Exactly that mixture od Jamaican Rude Boys and their music in Britian made a fertile ground where later on black and white skinheads were brewed. His first record in Uk was "Rocksteady with Dandy" in 1967, but Dandy is maybe best known for his hit single, later covered by the Specials "A message to you Rudy". This is not the only hit from Dandy, songs like "Suzanne Beware of the Devil", "Reggae in Your Jeggae", "Trouble in the Town", "Big City" and "(People get ready) Let's do Rocksteady" are just some hits played in the dancehalls of UK. He has a vast discography, so no point of listing all albums along with the singles. I'm giving you his greatest hits compilation album released in 2002 by the Trojan records under the name "Suzanne Beware of The Devil: The Best of Dandy Livingstone". This is one of my favourite skinhead reggae musicians so i hope you'll enjoy it too, and never forget your roots

Feine Sahne Fischfilet is a Ska-punk band from Rostock, Germany. Didn't know where i could put them because they ain't that ska, only beacuse of the trumpet, they ain't much punk either, and ain't pure Oi!, only lyricly in some songs, but because of the shortage of ska tags, and them being a ska-punk band, let's put them in Ska tags. Anyway FSF is a new band. Released their first album in 2009 "Backstage mit Freunden", and one more in 2010 "Wut im Bauch - Trauer im Herzen". They are known for their hard Antifascist stance in Germany and abroad, they did support and benefit gigs. The band did a Balkan Tour and it was arranged for them to come near Zagreb on a gig, but unfortunately the gear from the club was stolen a week from the show, so it was cancelled. Hope one day they will come and do a show in Croatia. Class and Roll all the way, enjoy.

"Siamo gli S-contro veniamo da Torino", so as they say S-Contro is an Italian Oi! band coming from ofcourse Turin. They began playing sometime in the late 90's, and recorded their first EP "L'inizio" in the year 2001. After that, they did 2 more albums "America Assassina" in 2003 and "King of Fools" in 2007. The band is still alive and kicking, doing shows, but don't know about new releases. S-Contro have an anarchist and an antifascist stance. Typical Italian oi band with a sound similar to bands like Youngang, 5MDR and other bands from this area. If you like the Italian Oi! scene, this is definitely a band for your hard disk and your ears.

Comrade is a SHARP antifascist Oi! band from Antwerp, Belgium. They began playing in the late 80's and split up in 1993. They relesead only a Demo in 1990, and there was also a Live release with Oi Polloi on a concert in 1988, but it's very rare to find. Their sound is influenced by the oi! from the British bands in the 80's. After the split they tried to get some ska into their sound, even hardcore, because the NY scene was a big influence for them in the 90's, but their first enthusiasm fainted away, and they never reformed. Their real inspiration was the boom of antifascim stance in the late 80's with the emerging of the Oppressed antifascist stance, Blaggers (ITA), AFA on the Island, SHARP in NY, the birth of Redskins movement in their border country France and so on. So their lyrics are dealing that kind of topics like pro-working class, Apartheid, anti-capitalism, Palestinian support.

Bootstock is a Croatian oi! band. These 5 guys are coming from Ivanić Grad near Zagreb. Playing classic oi with ska mixtures for about 5 years, influenced by bands like the Bruisers, Templars, Cock Sparrer, the 4-Skins and traditional ska like Desmond Dekker, Toots and the Maytals (covering sometimes bands like these). Althought they are "active" this long, they recorded their first album a week ago. Before that you could only find their Demo, but only amongst people close to them. Guys are now finnally stepping on the scene with good shows ahead of them. Lyricly dealing with topics about their home town, street life, police problems etc. Really a great band, not very well known.

Defeater is a melodic hardcore band from Massachusett, USA. Born in 2004 influenced by bands like Fugazi and musically by Minor Threat and Modern Life Is War. This band is taking over the modern hardcore scene not only with their catchy instrumental riffs, but also withe their deep and strong metaphorical lyrics regarding life and world problems and topics. They released an album "Travels" in 2008 on Topshelf records (owned and operated by Bridge Nine employee), also re-released on Bridge Nine, and a year after an EP "Lost Ground". Just few weeks ago the new EP "Dear Father" was out featuring 2 songs and shortly after that the LP "Empty Days & Sleepless Nights" just came out, i'm sure it will be even better than the last album\EP. As they are touring Europe, i won't miss a chance to hear this great band live and expirience their music, got their ticket today and looking forward heading to Vienna (Austria) in a month from now.

Eve & The Evils is a young ska band from Zagreb, Croatia. Formed sometime in 2009, started doing shows in 2010, and in full speed in 2011 with good gigs ahead of them. Their sound isn't typical ska punk (and that's the best thing about them), i would put them more to an energetic ska combining rock elements, some say even soul, but let the artist tag themselves. They put on their myspace one and only EP available for download (the link doesn't work anymore). One more thing, they have a female vocalist, and the whole package sounds great. They deserve more attention, that's for sure.

Assalt 43

Assalt 43 is an Oi! (at least started) band from Barcelona, Catalunya (not Spain, as they would say). These proud Catalans were formed in 2005, in their sound mixing oi with a tougher, rougher hardcore sound especially in theses days when they are without their female vocalist. So their sound should be characterised similar to Non Servium, Zartako (Brutal Oi\Streetcore!). As i started to write, they have had a female singer, with a hard voice, she could easily ashame and compete with any male Oi! vocalist. Their first album was "Nuestro Camino" in 2006, after the album and the song "Orgullo y Poder" (released only in video form) in 2008, Laura left the band (don't know the reason), and after that they did one EP in 2009 "HellCore" (more hardcore\streetcore sound). Lyrics are typical Oi! made in Spain, about football, violence, antifascism, working class ect. This is a great band, despite their lack of reputation, especially because of the female voice in Oi!, but the second is still good enough, don't miss this out.

Old Style Values is a new Oi! band coming from Moscow, Russia. Mixing streetpunk\streetcore these guys are a new band on the scene. They made a Promo, released a few days ago, and one split "In Our Hearts” (in the memory of their close friend Fedor Filatov, killed by nazis October 10th 2008) with another Moscow Trojan\Sharp band Bystreet in 2009. Red Card is an Oi! band from Izhevsk, Russia. They were formed in the end of 2006 and disbanded in 2010. Despite their 4 years of work Red Card didn't left a lot of material, only one 5 song EP "Geroi spal'nyh raionov" (Heroes of the sleepy area) released in 2009. Inspite of that, they certainly made an impact on the Russian scene showing and supporting antifascism and resisting any kind of authority, like in their songs. Their music is also slightly influenced by ska. They also covered Sleeping with the enemy, Oppressed song on the same Tribute compilation (posted earlier on the blog).

Last Rights is a Hardcore band from Boston, USA. They rose from the split of the band Negative FX, and along with DYS, SS Decontrol holded the core of the Boston sxe Crew. "Boston's Finest". Jerry's Kids is an early hardcore band coming from Boston, USA. Formed in 1981 with the first 6 song release coming on "This is Boston, not LA" hardcore punk compilation along with bands like Gang Green, The F.U.'s ect.. The band did their first LP in 1982 "Is this my World?" coming up with their classic influental and most recognized songs (Crucify me, I don't Belong, Build me a Bomb...). The band broke up in 1985 and shortly atfer that reunited in 1987 doing a "Kill Kill Kill" record in 1989, but sounding more like a faster dirty rock'n'roll band than their known hardcore punk sound. Didn't mean to put Hard Skin, certainly not that fast on the blog. But i came across one interesting video, which made me do it, and the band rose in my eyes even more than it was. Hard Skin is an Oi! band from London, UK. These Millwall boys are playing a special kind of oi named "comedy". But these aren't just some comedians singing about jokes\pranks, they called their oi that way because their lyrics are for "havin' a laugh and havin' a say". It's all about football, beer and birds and havin a good time, as Hard Skin would say. The band was formed sometime in the late 90's still doing shows with their releases that i will put ( "Hard nuts and hard cunts" in 1998, "Same meat different Gravy" in 2005, "Make my Tea" EP in 2006, "Fucking skins, fucking punks" in 2008 and one more split) . Their music is is most similar to their influences Sham 69, Cock Sparrer, Cockney Rejects Blitz (new age cover). They don't have a website, for some reason they don't like to be contacted. The video that i was talking about is in the section below, i think you'll get the picture when you see the first 30 sec.. Maximum respect for the Hard Skin.

8°6 Crew is a ska and skinhead reggae revival band coming from Paris, France. They were formed in 1995 and the name of the band is taken from a special kind of beer (8°6 Bavaria). First they were streetpunk, but later as they progressed the band wanted to turn more to ska and reggae sound. In the year 1998 the band relesead their first album "Bad Bad Reggae" under the german Mad Butcher Records. In 2001 they relesead an EP "Menil' Express" which is a more dub, reggae sound than BBR which is ska(punk), reggae and even oi combined. After doing some tours, the band took a long holiday in 2002. They reformed in 2008, but have had a lot of difficulties, as 2 members of the band died. Still they got on their feet finally in 2010, releasing a new album "Old Reggae Friends" dedicated to their past away members (the album came out a month ago, on the internet a day ago) and are ready for a new tour. This is definitely one of my favourite ska (skinhead reggae) bands and the album BBR is just a pure classic. The band will be coming to Croatia also, for the Skaville Winter Edition (the organisators outdone themselves this time). They will come to Zagreb and Split in frebruary 2011. See you there.

Rudy Mills

Rudy Mills is a (skinhead) reggae songwriter and vocalist. He is also linked with rocksteady, trojan ska and that generation in 69' which musicly created the new roots music for the original (traditional) skinheads to listen to. He did his work in UK, and i don't know very much about him, because there are little sources for him on the internet. I'll give you only one release, done in 69', his "Reggae hits". Be sure to listen to John Jones, it's was a fuckin' classic in those days, and still is for people who appreciate skinhead reggae music.

Antisocial

"Back in the past". Antisocial is an Oi! punk band from Livingston, Scotland. They were formed in 1979 and produced their music through the "golden ages" of oi! music along with the names like the Business, Last Resort and the 4 Skins, until they disbaneded in 1982. During that time, the band released 3 EPs, and after that their entire "discography" was relesead on Captain Oi! records in 1995 "Battle Scared Skinheads". Lyrics are typical for that time, dealing mostly with social problems, rebellion, punk\oi scene and surviving every day life in England for the working class. After the split some members continued to work with music, in scottish bands like Exploited and contemporary oi! band Bakers Dozen. The band has nothing to do with politics either left or right. I'll put only the Battle Scared Skinheads, because it contains all the EP songs. Enjoy.

Brigadir

Brigadir\Бригадир is an Russian Oi! band coming from St.Petersburg. They are an Anarchist oi band, cooperating with the russian RASH (redskins.ru) organization. Their members are ex-Bukaneros without the female vocalist. While Bukaneros were more streetpunk\oi musicly and lyricly, the Brigadir is a band that took more militant influence from European famous rash oi bands like Brigada Flores Magon and Non Servium (which song they covered - Duh Oi!\ El spiritu del Oi!), and their oi! music which is more aggressive (oicore) than the traditional oi! music. Lyrics contain songs about anarchism, football and struggle in russia, fighting with the boneheads.They vocalist is an sxe, not sure for the rest of the band. They made a split in 2008 with another russian rash band Krasnyj Gorizont. They don't have an album yet, but i hope they will release one soon. Also this year they made 4 new song, they put on myspace. They are actively supporting the antifascist fight in Russia with the neonazis (these guys aren't joking), also made an apperance on the Antifascist Attitude. Anyway this is one of my favourite rash oi! bands, and i can say that at the moment one of the best there is these days in whole Europe, just waiting for more material and concerts out of Russia.

Give'em The Gun is an Oi!\streetpunk band from Moscow, Russia. They are members of the Moscow Trojan Skinheads crew. Formed in the late 00's, Give'em The Gun are a new band on the expanding russian scene. They made a Demo in 2008, and one split with the Minsk hardcore band Back2Back in 2009. Their songs deal with classic non-political oi topics (pride, city patriotism, football, unity), and have covered one Cock Sparrer tune. Although they are apolitical, they are antifascists and spoke openly about it in the Antifascist Attitude (documentary about the russian antifascism and problems with the neonazis), "this is punk rock, hardcore, the ska scene or whatever you call it. Here is a place for skinheads, punk and hardcore kids. Here is a place for everybody, but not for the people with racial and national prejudices." by the vocal.

Junk Messiah

"Oldschool or noschool". First Croatian band i'm posting will be Junk Messiah. They are a new hardcore punk band from Zagreb\Sisak.They rose from the ashes of xVaseline Childrenx which was an another great hardcore sxe band. They have an album called "The path of the snake" released in 2010. JM are a completely underground band, which is rare for the Croatian scene, that's why i like them, besides their great music. Also had a chance to talk with their vocal Pic so i had a first hand expirience how friendly they are.
Best way to describe their music as they say: "pissed off.fast.rocking.DIY.Vaseline children having sex with the Rites while listening to Ac/Dc and black flag. enough?"
Can't wait to see them live and how to get them in your town:
"so what's up with those messiah boys? nothing, just ask them and they will be glad to play some fine rockin' hc/punk tunes in your city...we require some gas money, something warm and vegan to eat, few beers and some cola for that two sXe guys in the band:-) we prefer D.I.Y. self run places with a cool non-macho, non-violent, atmosphere, no bullshit sexism and fascism of any kind...so that's it...see ya.."

Erode

Erode is an Italian melodic streetpunk\oi! band from Como. They were formed sometime in the mid 90's as they relesead their first EP in 1995 "Orgoglio Proletario", following two more EP's, "Al Volga non si arriva" in 1996 and one more "Al popolo tradito". In 2004 their LP was finally released "Tempo che non ritorna" with the material from the EP's and some new songs. After that the band split and went their own ways. They are a communist band in the right choice of words, because of their lyrics mostly for the working class\proletariat and similar topics of their songs.

Paranoi 13 is an Oi! band from Marseille, France. I really don't know much about the band because they ain't that famous\well known, all i know is that i like them. They are also antifa\(RASH), and the sound is typical for the new "antifa" oi! scene in France (playing faster and more aggressive oi! sound). Also that they released only one album by a very strange name "Ctrl C - Ctrl V" in 2008. Lyrics are working class\proletare oi!.

State of Alert

State of Alert is an oldschool hardcore\dischord band from Washington DC, USA. The band was formed in 1980 and disbanded in 1981, and have relesead only one EP titled "No Policy" and did 3 songs for a compilation "Flex your head". The band should be considered most famous because it was the first band of the Henry Garfield, later known as (aka) Henry Rollins from one of the most famous American and Hardcore bands in the world the Black Flag. Although the band didn't made that many shows (only 12) and relesead only one EP, they made an impact in their time on other hardcore bands like Negative A., and later Agnostic F.. After the split the members didn't quit music, they went on playing in other bands such as Faith, Iron Cross, Black Flag. The lyrics were dealing woth social problems, police, violence and one like Lost in Space that is talking against drugs (early sxe), although they weren't sxe. One more thing i would like to mention from a band that i like DC hardcore\oi 86 Mentality did a pretty good cover of their song Gonna Hafta Fight.

Bold

Bold is a youth crew, sxe, hardcore band from Westchester County, NY City, USA. They started playing in the mid 80's inflenced by early oldschool bands in USA like Black Flag, SSD, Minor Threat, DYS, 7 Seconds and other. They were also one of the pioneers along with Youth of Today "guilty" for the Youth Crew hardcore movement in USA. Before they changed their name to Bold, they were known as Crippled Youth and relesead an EP under that name "Join the Fight" in 1985. Few years later the band switched the name to Bold and relesead their "first" LP "Speak out" in 1988. Other material relesead is their EP "S\T" (considered to be their best) in 1989 and then re-issued in a LP "Looking Back" the same year. The band then splited and were formed again in 2005, did shows, released their you can say entire discography in "The Search:1985-1989" and fell apart the next year. Their early material especially in the Crippled Youth sounds more oldschool than their Bold material which is a mature mixture of youth crew sound hardcore.
PS: Don't have their ST, but The Search pretty much covers it, enjoy and Wise Up!

The Prowlers

More Oi! music. The Prowlers are an oi band from Montreal, Canada. The band was formed sometime around the year 2000, when they issued an album called "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow" (from the Ramones song Here Today, Gone Tomorrow). Their second and last relesae was an Ep in 2003 "Chaos in the City". Their music is heavily influenced by british classic oi from the early 80's; made two covers, the 4 skins and Oppressed. They are strongly supporting antifascism but not in the songs.Their lyrics are oi based (violence, streetlife, drinking, working class). The band isn't that active anymore, but i've heared they are preparing to do a few shows. They made an appearance on the Skinhead Attitude.

Now, something a little bit different. Because i'm too lazy to talk about some band and have shit full of work to do, i will give you one Tribute compilation to the Oppressed. This was given to my by a friend of my from Lithuania even before it was relesead, given to her by her friends from Toro Bravo, who also worked on this Tribute. If you like the Oppressed you will definetly love this tribute. The bands on the tribute are from all over the world like Toro Bravo (mentioned earlier), Produzeten der Froide, Prowlers, On the Job, Bull Brigade, Red Card, Hors Controle, Stage Bottles and other famous oi bands. Youth Crew Finest! Project X was a hardcore\youth crew sxe band from NY City,USA. The band started as a project to release a compilation of unreleased hardcore from the early 80's for their fanzine "Schism". They had trouble with getting the rights, so they decided to form a band. So they were formed in the late 80's probably sometime close to 1987 when their only EP got out "Project X (Straight Edge Revenge)". The reason i call them the "Youth Crew Finest!" is that they were formed from members of best bands in that sort of hardcore genre\direction like the singer John Porcelly who was a guitarist in Youth of Today, Judge and few more, also the guitarist of the bend Alex Brown (Side By Side, Gorilla Biscuits), bass (Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today) and drums (Side By Side, Youth Of Today, Judge). The band played very few shows obviously because they were only a project for a short term compilation, but still they made an impact on the scene and on their name. For comparison Flawless Victory russian\sxe band made a cover of their song Straight edge revenge, and their record is still selling on Bridge Nine.

Ya basta! is a french anarcho-syndicalist ska band. The name of the band is taken from a Zapatist slogan that means "Enough is enough". The roots of the band date to the year 1993, and were doing concerts from 1995, but not until the year 1999 when they recorded a Split with Action Directe. First album was released in 2002 "Lucha y fiesta", and two more "Toujours Debout" in 2004, and "Sans Retour" in the year 2006. They were also on various compilations like Class Pride World Wide. Their music should be characterized like Rock'n'Ska Activist as they say.
